I never, in my wildest imagination, could have grasped how much time and energy and money could go into such a small space! Of course, it's still not exactly right and I'm guessing the reality is that it will never be perfect, but it's getting better. If you follow Because I'm Me on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/becauseimme.net">Facebook</a> or <a href="https://www.instagram.com/jody_sanders_becauseimme/" target="_blank">Instagram</a> you've probably seen many booth pictures, and also many pictures of products I'm selling face-to-face that aren't available online. I'm working on bringing more of those products to the <a href="http://becauseimme.etsy.com" target="_blank">shop</a> - hopefully more very soon, but if you're interested in something you see just message me. Oh, also follow the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/becauseimme.net">Facebook</a> page for locations of upcoming events.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgBmF_12sP_ZwLWE9nqpnsw8Dn__ANa8ah58yUp33TxlYF4mIuD_srWviYifOfRgo3czQpaH3gygiBzCmY19QdLWPVdz6y55s-cWI0T_HplH2NmAg66_XU-0BRwkcdmka08G15hYaxzXoICPqzK6mxAb-if3A1WSRffhu2FEx6YlnWFtIvMPUOBmqqeDA=s2144" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2144" data-original-width="2144" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgBmF_12sP_ZwLWE9nqpnsw8Dn__ANa8ah58yUp33TxlYF4mIuD_srWviYifOfRgo3czQpaH3gygiBzCmY19QdLWPVdz6y55s-cWI0T_HplH2NmAg66_XU-0BRwkcdmka08G15hYaxzXoICPqzK6mxAb-if3A1WSRffhu2FEx6YlnWFtIvMPUOBmqqeDA=w640-h640" width="640" /></a></div> <p></p><p>So here I am with some new bow ties, just added to the shop.</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi_a_kZgbWWKqap4qjylGnCqC3mlaoxrA60hQrtmWLYcXSHqsnUWHEgQAAUZKTm3ZSWWqYtv5mdelQ0FNE-ENruAHsp6t8Ky5ePC2h5sdKuJmd22Q1fj0sgg5IPEzXTsSRSbq0BcVNH-XQ1V8TwTmgqGnV6HSwZ1pGc2pPpdKZsNBHLW6aH7TFxWpnxbQ=s2868" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2293" data-original-width="2868" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi_a_kZgbWWKqap4qjylGnCqC3mlaoxrA60hQrtmWLYcXSHqsnUWHEgQAAUZKTm3ZSWWqYtv5mdelQ0FNE-ENruAHsp6t8Ky5ePC2h5sdKuJmd22Q1fj0sgg5IPEzXTsSRSbq0BcVNH-XQ1V8TwTmgqGnV6HSwZ1pGc2pPpdKZsNBHLW6aH7TFxWpnxbQ=w400-h320" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>These fun bow ties are available with the added Easter bunny or chick for both <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1175498376/mens-easter-bow-tie-mens-bunny-or-chick?ref=listings_manager_grid" target="_blank">adults</a> and <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1189466961/boys-easter-bow-tie-easter-spring-bowtie?ref=listings_manager_grid" target="_blank">kids</a>. He came home a few hours later with a friend. </p><p>His friend was an adorable, small, vocal gray cat. This fellow was immediately named Buddy, because he's Hippo's buddy.</p><p>I posted pictures of him on our local facebook groups and no one seems to know anything about him. So for the last few months we've been talking to him, trying to get a little bit closer to him, and feeding him each evening (he mostly comes by after dark). Years ago Hippo put a hole in the screen on our porch so Buddy uses that to get onto the lanai where his food is.</p><p>For a long time I wasn't seeing much of him but the food was gone in the morning, so I'd just set some out before bed.</p><p>That worked really well until one evening I walked past the lanai, checked for Buddy, and saw this instead:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGuv5h3q8Zq3z5pg6hToqMn8EqdbPZ8HfwwcvLMtGlNGnFEy7l2vxGDH9_cifxrFQesTgoTRuuTZTqvoQ6GqU2ICSoEBCiVmamDTZE-kmrXPYzagaZOGEm3J4_Qx6QgwO2jcU8Wj6dMRl-/s2048/IMG_8543.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Opossum eating cat food" border="0" data-original-height="1469" data-original-width="2048" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGuv5h3q8Zq3z5pg6hToqMn8EqdbPZ8HfwwcvLMtGlNGnFEy7l2vxGDH9_cifxrFQesTgoTRuuTZTqvoQ6GqU2ICSoEBCiVmamDTZE-kmrXPYzagaZOGEm3J4_Qx6QgwO2jcU8Wj6dMRl-/w400-h288/IMG_8543.JPG" width="400" /></a></div> <p></p><p><span>Opossum was much less concerned about my presence than Buddy ever is and ate the whole bowl of food!</span></p><p><span></span>Now Buddy gets fed only when we see him!</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div class="blogger-post-footer">Because I'm Me blog at http://www.becauseimme.net

Given his age (12) and Covid restrictions finding a place to volunteer wasn't easy so he got creative and suggested fostering kittens for one of our local shelters.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioXrHMIJjsOImoadE6odtSt4jHZhKkwHDIRf3eahP0QyZStMjCBqnZZnTelGDH_L0l5sDPtIY-hiLPd0PK7kMY-Xg1rt4W4NdNODm0xtmBqtZ-ooSDg7_-o-LZzqqYvSEG5Fc-bcl9IQOO/s2048/IMG_6939.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2047" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioXrHMIJjsOImoadE6odtSt4jHZhKkwHDIRf3eahP0QyZStMjCBqnZZnTelGDH_L0l5sDPtIY-hiLPd0PK7kMY-Xg1rt4W4NdNODm0xtmBqtZ-ooSDg7_-o-LZzqqYvSEG5Fc-bcl9IQOO/w400-h400/IMG_6939.JPG" width="400" /></a></div> <p></p><p>In no time at all Quebec and Romeo were at our house, two less than four-week old kittens. While they are both black and about the same ago they were not litter-mates, we got Romeo first and Quebec a day later - they do so much better when they're not singletons and the two bonded immediately and were so good for each other.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZVSqgnFdrQNfNGNwfqZRFGD210ULD8bnwXsPXZ0bwBBupyoELMWcUId3V2z2Zm0AMhqWqF20qCdnpAVATUw8ccXFEHvSed3vllqpkIXk-ky9fUtcSHizaOLf0XRfZHGhwGx3nw6xnflE1/s2048/IMG_6947.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1979" data-original-width="2048" height="386" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZVSqgnFdrQNfNGNwfqZRFGD210ULD8bnwXsPXZ0bwBBupyoELMWcUId3V2z2Zm0AMhqWqF20qCdnpAVATUw8ccXFEHvSed3vllqpkIXk-ky9fUtcSHizaOLf0XRfZHGhwGx3nw6xnflE1/w400-h386/IMG_6947.JPG" width="400" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We've fostered kittens before and decided long ago that to avoid keeping the kittens (you name them, you're likely keeping them) we'd use the military alphabet to temporarily name our kittens, in order backwards starting with Z. Xray, Yankee, and Zulu were our first fosters using this system; Yankee didn't make it but Xray and Zulu are now huge cats named Kit and Kat. Tango, Uniform, Victor, and Whiskey were next; Uniform stayed in the family and became Willie and the other three were adopted out of the shelter. Sierra was with us through Hurricane Irma; once the storm passed he (yes, Sierra was a he ... this isn't a perfect system) was adopted by Mia and is now a very fluffy cat named Linc. And then, most recently, Quebec and Romeo.</div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhq4h2dU9fziqitNFIu4slrx8IY9s27Xqd4s9hH-tZ3SSClGfQcB0WaZWm5qiHxD9-G9azbhDult5VP7pL8mmtB5SLg_DtgCldVrqLTiV09tOXy31uOYDEj-Aep9BH6F8mRQTjDJ7NImTD/s2022/IMG_7137.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2022" data-original-width="2018" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhq4h2dU9fziqitNFIu4slrx8IY9s27Xqd4s9hH-tZ3SSClGfQcB0WaZWm5qiHxD9-G9azbhDult5VP7pL8mmtB5SLg_DtgCldVrqLTiV09tOXy31uOYDEj-Aep9BH6F8mRQTjDJ7NImTD/w399-h400/IMG_7137.JPG" width="399" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtM6EZ31A5p6mBGUTMvqd5vXuv9RgHrhGPBeDD1bLF8m1BuSWr767ew0X-ynzrkovb2GzrhQhctcN1XvkvxXvupAg9r2cFq6YoFNluORGlPzenQISHuNkrFQnNc4jI-VtH6SF9X7_eOEEf/s2048/IMG_7154.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2046" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtM6EZ31A5p6mBGUTMvqd5vXuv9RgHrhGPBeDD1bLF8m1BuSWr767ew0X-ynzrkovb2GzrhQhctcN1XvkvxXvupAg9r2cFq6YoFNluORGlPzenQISHuNkrFQnNc4jI-VtH6SF9X7_eOEEf/w400-h400/IMG_7154.JPG" width="400" /></a></div> <p></p><p>A day after getting our kittens Cassie decided she'd foster as well and she's now temporarily rearing Duck and Goose - who are absolutely adorable. They are both super cute and, unintentionally, share a lot of similar colors. <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzlJBtcDIrEqRa8b6afC3MM47hTpEOIMYa_RY8MnVhuu95cDIOE0y6mH78NuslOHtATvk6HGDrR8-Nop19S6PgeuPDmCoWTv9k0xPRHlENu49xy25LBlbgnXRq7QcQSVE_6uALZk222ZY3/s2048/IMG_5618-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2047" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzlJBtcDIrEqRa8b6afC3MM47hTpEOIMYa_RY8MnVhuu95cDIOE0y6mH78NuslOHtATvk6HGDrR8-Nop19S6PgeuPDmCoWTv9k0xPRHlENu49xy25LBlbgnXRq7QcQSVE_6uALZk222ZY3/w640-h640/IMG_5618-001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>This one is ready to be quilted on the long-arm quilter. I'm waiting for sewing machine oil to arrive before getting started on it, in the meantime it's loaded and waiting.</p><p>I started quilting it a few days ago and ran into some tension issues. Not a big deal, but then the bobbin got wonky and the machine stopped working completely - the motor ran but nothing else happened. In reading the manual I came across a blurb that said to look at what you were last doing to find the source of your problem - so I surmised this was a bobbin issue. The bobbin came out and got fixed, but still nothing. I played around with the bobbin housing for a bit and got some tweezers out and found a little stuck thread. Worked on that and still nothing. Hmm. Googled and googled and googled some more and finally found a video that dealt with the issue. Sure enough, there was a tiny piece, maybe 1/2" long, of thread stuck in the bobbin. My son Adam and I worked at it for about 2 seconds and that pesky thread came out and the machine worked again. Yup, 29</a>. Check them out before they find new homes. And there are four more quilt tops waiting to be finished - and I got a new new sewing machine that I'm crazy about ... so there will be more soon.</p><p>The sewing machine trails and tribulations: Last spring we made masks, lots and lots of masks. I averaged 3 hours of sleep a night and everyone in the house was put to work, all while still running the daycare! </p><p>When the dust settled I knew my sewing machine needed a spa day, so I purchased a Janome to get by while my Pfaff was in the shop. I liked the Janome just fine and we developed quite a nice relationship. And then he sewed over a pin and got very sad, something was off and he sewed ok but sounded awful. I called Janome because it was under warranty and they told me I had to reach out to the seller, which I did but they don't handle any service issues, so they offered to give me a full refund if I returned the machine. Unfortunately, the same machine was no longer available at the price I paid. So ...</p><p>I got my refund and found a refurbished Pfaff through an online retailer. And it did embroidery, which would be an asset to me. Ordered the machine, got the machine, opened the package and it was not what I'd ordered. It was a new Viking that retailed for more than the Pfaff. I reached out the company and after some screw-ups by UPS I offered to just keep the machine they'd sent so I could start sewing. They agreed. All was well. Until I used the machine. I did not like it at all. At all. In my mind I was already trying to come up with the funds to purchase the Pfaff I'd originally purchased. So ...</p><p>I reached out to the company and returned the Viking and they sent the correct Pfaff. And it's wonderful. Terrific. Easy to figure out since I already have a Pfaff. I'm a very happy sewer!</p><p>Back to my trusty, original, work horse of a Pfaff. At the end of last June it traveled to the Keys with me for a "working vacation". After we got home the presser foot stuck when lowered, it just didn't lower until it wanted to. I thought maybe a piece of sand got in it somewhere or something. Took it to a shop and they got it to work for three weeks. I tried myself to fix it and got it to work for about 48 hours. I have no idea what's up with it, but I'm looking for a seasoned repair person to give it some TLC. It still works pretty well, it just takes a lot of patience waiting for the presser foot to drop (sometimes a few seconds, sometimes a few minutes).</p><p>And that's how the sewing machine world turns around here ...</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPqRwxNJffCZY7Fkg_t7_QDb3k2JoKBJb6PRGysg9qz4Z8gEXdUnJmHqPF4yF4UXhYBkaMrCF43uGNBzyhBEVQ1jXIBGF2TgbNMAP7b0M9i58DG5xdnUPSy6toyiTY-T1JntR2C0qe8iwj/s2048/IMG_5148.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1639" data-original-width="2048" height="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPqRwxNJffCZY7Fkg_t7_QDb3k2JoKBJb6PRGysg9qz4Z8gEXdUnJmHqPF4yF4UXhYBkaMrCF43uGNBzyhBEVQ1jXIBGF2TgbNMAP7b0M9i58DG5xdnUPSy6toyiTY-T1JntR2C0qe8iwj/w640-h512/IMG_5148.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="blogger-post-footer">Because I'm Me blog at http://www.becauseimme.net

Aaahhhhh...</p><p>Let me start by saying I've never been a glitter person. Until now. I thought it'd be fun to offer a glitter option on these <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/968988496/personalized-holographic-vinyl-key-chain" target="_blank">key rings</a> and I LOVE it. The glitter is blended with the resin first, so no mess for the end user at all, and then is applied on the backside only so the initial is still very easy to see.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHa6acHdEfON3QPEt0x9E0h_8fEicHuu6rytdgKS2niNR6ekf1-7BLpnfW78QxpTgtvPvfJvPB9m5utivXD97ubCKj4mmRtMyOvCW8mJ12OZcFnzTO4SpxwUI4Ejnjymcf9XCD-daDaQoQ/s2048/IMG_4341.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1639" data-original-width="2048" height="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHa6acHdEfON3QPEt0x9E0h_8fEicHuu6rytdgKS2niNR6ekf1-7BLpnfW78QxpTgtvPvfJvPB9m5utivXD97ubCKj4mmRtMyOvCW8mJ12OZcFnzTO4SpxwUI4Ejnjymcf9XCD-daDaQoQ/w640-h512/IMG_4341.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <p></p><p>The holographic vinyl on the frontside changes from blue to pink to gold to purple to silver ... and also picks up whatever colors are nearby. So pretty!</p><p>Both the front and back of the key chain is finished with resin, the backside having the glitter blended in.</p><p>Each key chain comes with a coordinating tassel as well as chain and ring.</p><p>These are similar to our <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/959892076/personalized-key-chain-holographic-blue" target="_blank">other holographic initial key chains</a>, but different font and, you know, glitter. <br /></p><p><a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/968988496/personalized-holographic-vinyl-key-chain" target="_blank">Available in the Jude Harbor shop now</a>. <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVhfjS5TBLjdV4OwLxsHYLm2AHBNO8FXpPqhoiMfpcsjFnO0P_zd-W06BSbRkMeUEhcKM8h9vkYd8ATZLA4ms5SvIqkxAqzOqoL9MHi-TNU9lp4MAsppi2u1akYfe2k2W1xOlh1eI4OoF0/s2048/IMG_4336.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVhfjS5TBLjdV4OwLxsHYLm2AHBNO8FXpPqhoiMfpcsjFnO0P_zd-W06BSbRkMeUEhcKM8h9vkYd8ATZLA4ms5SvIqkxAqzOqoL9MHi-TNU9lp4MAsppi2u1akYfe2k2W1xOlh1eI4OoF0/w400-h266/IMG_4336.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><div class="blogger-post-footer">Because I'm Me blog at http://www.becauseimme.net
